A-Howdy-Doo

Various things have happened since I've posted. A summary of all of them being I got a councillor and a psychiatrist.

Fucking yay.

I got the scans of the Assassins Creed 2 info from Game Informer about a week after they were printed in America, thanks to various websites' help. It looks pretty amazing so far, if I do say so myself, and I can't wait to get it.

Prototype comes out next month, which I WILL be getting, seeing as it's now the only game coming out then that I want to buy. Batman got pushed back, and Sony bought the publishing rights to Ghostbusters (pushing the release date back for every console EXCEPT the PS3) in Europe.

Bastards.

Also, I've decided to go into the design side of game development more now, doing artwork and designing all the tidbits is a lot more interesting that developing it yourself. Sure, it's quite interesting to develop it, but if your heart's not in it fully then it gets boring after a while. It's why most of my projects have died off somewhere along their development.

Also, got the RAM upgrade for my laptop (it's now 2GB), and I'm loving it. Runs quite a bit faster, though of course Vista insists on taking up half of it just for running itself. I don't understand why :S

Diablo III looks amazing, might get that when it comes out, if I get a better computer by then (this laptop has a rather horrible graphics card, and 2GB seems to be the running rate for JUST the game nowadays - sad, but true).

AC2 and Mirrors Edge 2D

Well, having been a major fan of the original Assassin's Creed (something others don't quite see), I've been keeping track of Assassin's Creed 2.

Yes, there's a second one. I hate when people are surprised by that - it was always intended to be a trilogy, and generally that means sequels.

Anyway, the main character (or at least, the guy you control throughout the game) of the original obviously won't be the protagonist of this - for reasons obvious to those who've played through it - but recent rumours and clues have suggested that it'll be set in yet another Animus machine (AKA the memories) of another ancestor of... that guy. Can't remember his name. Desmond, or something.

Anyway, the indepth look of the website teaser trailer by IGN suggests that the new story/set of memories will be set in Italy, and other rumours have suggested it to be in a more recent timespace. One supposed game tester said that he saw a trailer of a guy in a masquerade of sorts, assassinating a guy and using his "mad ninja skillz" to escape. Apparently this may mean that disguises will be implemented into the gameplay, as well as gun powder and swimming
(being a more recent century, more modern ideas are a must).

And to be honest, I literally squealed at this picture from the upcoming Game Informer magazine - I think you'll like it.

And in other news, the creator(/s?) of Fancy Pants Adventure have created a 2D version of Mirrors Edge (http://www.mirrorsedge2d.com/), which is pretty well made. It's got quite smooth gameplay, though the character animation could have been better done. Being a beta though, I think that can be forgiven.

100 Get

Niiiiice.

Anyway, just finished installing Deus Ex - I'll have a go on that in a minute. See what all the fuss is about. Then I'll have a go on The Nameless Mod - which, to be fair, looks like one of the most refined and polished mods out there.

I'm attempting to delete as much as possible from my computer now, having only 20GB left of memory, after 3 months. Sam's suggested "investing" in a portable harddrive, though where I'll get the cash for it I'll never know.

I also finished watching Afro Samurai yesterday, and I've gotta say it was pretty damn good, even with it's ambiguous ending. I assume that's where the movie picks up from.

Anyway... See you guys later.

Return To Castle Wolfenstein

As many long-time gamers (rather than the newest age of FPS players) will know, Wolfenstein was one of the greatest FPS games, combining both traditional FPS gameplay and multiplayer with supernatural elements. Though having never played it myself (it stopped getting created soon after I was born probably, and the newer renditions I never got around to playing), I'm still excited for the recently announced remake.
I say recently announced, but that's only because I've just heard about it as new screenshots have been released to the public.

The graphics have obviously been redone for this newer version (as every game is really), which brings me to another point - what's with people disliking good graphics? Some people I know prefer 2D, classic graphics and blocky characters to smooth graphics, though personally I don't mind either of them. I play old games all the time (still having a rather extensive PSX game collection gathering dust besides a certain few).

The other day I was playing through the new Chronicles of Riddick demo and the Ninja Blade demo (I was going to play the Wanted demo, but had to leave before it finished downloading). They both have pretty good graphics, though Ninja Blade has turned out to be just a professionally done rip-off of games like the Devil May Cry series. Riddick seems to also be geared towards the hardcore game players (nothing wrong with that), having ridiculous melee combat that just feels good to play, and yet it has it's own features that seperate it from others. It also speaks of several multiplayer modes at the end, and a remake of the Butcher Bay campaign. Pitch Black mode looks pretty good aswell, gaining it's name and inspiration from the original Vin Diesel movie with Riddick in it, which has one player playing as Riddick against other players, in total darkness, having nothing but a torch to go by, and Riddick having his eyes to see in the dark.

In other news, the new soundtrack from Blizzard looks good, having multiple unreleased songs aswell as ones people already know. I'll probably get around to getting it soon.

Lololol

Well, this weeks episode of My Name is Earl is quite interesting so far.

"You should come with me and do superhero stuff. We'll get so much ass!"

Anyway, I had a haircut today (around 11ish) and had an interview at my primary school about work experience next week. The layout of the school remains the same, though most of the teachers have been replaced. The cleaner, however, Mick something, is still there. You'd have thought he'd have moved on by now, or gotten into some other career.

Guess not.

AHA, Joy just went MacGyver on that cellar's ass.

And dear lord, since when have we been able to put podcasts on iPods? That's some crazy cool shit right there. I'll be able to listen to the Penny Arcade D&D Podcasts on the go now - which is pretty damn cool.

Also, Taylor Swift is pretty awesome. I thought she was just another one of them country singers that Liam's always going on about, then Teecake made a whole presentation about her and she caught my attention.

Niiiiiice.

Edit: Also, forgot to mention this, I managed to get my simple flash physics engine to a near finite point with hardly any glitches. I'll probably upgrade that in the future to be in par with the current 2D physics engines available, but until then I'll be happy :D

Woop Snow Day

Well, Callum was right - snow day once again. I've had all week off, and by god it is GLORIOUS.

Got all my homework done, working on my game, playing on my XBox, talking to my mates. It's like my normal holiday weeks, lol. Reckon we'll have tomorrow off?

I hope not, I've not seen Molly or Codd or Teecake in ages :(

Jam Legend

Ever since Monday we've been having snow days here in Leicester - well technically, only on Monday and Tuesday, but I managed to convince Angela to ring the school before they updated the phone message, and she now believes that I have the day off. Booyah.

On Monday I got to playing a game called "Jam Legend" - basically, a guitar hero clone which you can play on your computer with your keyboard (which you hold like a guitar if it's not attached like a laptop) - and it is actually amazing. It's good for quick breaks in my English essay, which was in for today need I remind you not.

I'm working on it now, don't worry. And my ICT homework - balls.

7 pages so far on my English, and I don't think I've written enough - I'll be improving it after I've handed in my first draft. It's on 'Great Expectations' by Charles Dickens, and I want to get an A* again.

So - I'm in bed. Yay. Screw all you guys at school - and thank god I missed rugby again.
